Vancouver Craft Beer Week, May 10 – 16, 2010

After a long evening of drinking the best beer BC has to offer one must replenish the tanks with a hearty breakfast. With this in mind Vancouver Craft Beer Week is proud to have Deacon’s Corner as the official hangover breakfast spot for VCBW!

Two of Surrey’s finest have joined together for a week-long celebration of craft beer and food. Amberjack’s Tap House will be creating an array of special tapas style plates to pair with a selection of craft beers from Award Winning Russell Brewing, including limited edition cask creations. These affordable beer and food pairings will be available from 5:00pm until late every night during Vancouver Craft Beer Week, May 10-16.

Brewmaster Dave Varga has expertly paired some of his favorite beers with specials from the kitchen at Taylor’s Crossing. Stop in and taste the best beer the North Shore has to offer!

Throughout Vancouver Craft Beer Week, Red Card Sports Bar’s Chef Andreas Wechselberger will be offering his special brick-oven fired Marinara Pizza , topped with Fior di Latte (cow’s milk mozzarella), white anchovy, basil and oregano, which pairs perfectly with Salt Spring Island Ales’ award winning Golden Ale.

During the week of May 10th to 14th, R&B Brewing will be offering complimentary brewery tour packages. Tours will run daily from Monday to Friday starting at 1.00 pm. Guests will receive a behind the scenes look at the brewery as well as tasting samples of the full line up of R&B beers. Space on the tours is limited so call 604 874 2537 to book your spot. After the tour each day, a different local restaurant will offer special food and/or beer items exclusive to tour goers.

Brewmaster James Walton has teamed up with The Whip to offer his award winning beer paired with special menu items every day during Vancouver Craft Beer Week!

In addition to the week long specials, there will also be a special cask brunch during the weekend, May 15th and 16th, of VCBW. The Whip is famous for it’s brunches. The Whip is also famous for it’s cask beer program. What happens when you combine the two? Well, nothing beats an amazing cask beer expertly paired with hop and malt inspired bunch features! Casks will be tapped at 10am.

To celebrate the inaugural Vancouver Craft Beer Week, Cascade and Habit will have three informal gatherings. No agenda, no speeches, simply a chance to socialize with like-minded people and drink some fine cask conditioned ales.

• Wednesday 12th May, Habit Restaurant: Red Truck Amber Pale
• Thursday 13th May, The Cascade Room: Russell ‘Angry’ Scotch

All casks will be tapped at 6pm, and both restaurants will proudly offer dishes featuring Beerbrats gourmet handcrafted sausages. Join Cascade and Habit for pleasant evenings of lively conversation, tasty Beerbrats and luscious cask-conditioned ale.
